If I were to compile a list of my top ten favourite peace songs, “We’re all in this together” by Ben Lee would definitely be in my top ten.
It is an awesome song, below is a clip of the song from a tv commercial. Ben Lee is also from Sydney Australia just like me :p

The lyrics are very beautiful and inspiring, and the music is timeless.

woke up this morning
i suddenly realized
were all in this together
i started smiling
cos you were smiling
and were all in this together
im made of atoms
youre made of atoms
and were all in this together

i know you think
about jumping ship before it sinks
but were all in this together
ask a scientist
its quantum physics
were all in this together

yknow baby
theres never been protection
in all the history of human connection
cmon darling
its alright to show me
you dont ever need to be lonely
once you start to open your heart

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”

An absence of war, based on force and military threat is not peace. As Albert Einstein said, peace “can only be achieved by understanding”
To me that understanding, I interpret it as understanding that while there are differences between people all around the world, we really are similar on so many levels. We all want a comfortable peaceful life. I also see it as an understanding, that we really are all in this together. We the human race are on this small blue planet together, and while there is no doubt that there is other life out there in the universe, as far as technology has advanced, we have yet to discover any other planets that have intelligent life. Why would it take a massive disaster or an alien invasion like you see in the movies, for us all to realise that these borders between countries mean nothing and that we are all inhabitants of planet earth. Why cant we understand that now……
It is rather bizarre that technology and science has evolved so much, but our understanding and awareness has not. We are still behaving as though the earth is flat and if we go to the end of the earth we will just fall off the edge.

I saw this documentary a few nights back. Wow, this documentary which was made back in 2010 is a real eye opener. It talks about the greed which lead to the financial meltdown in 2008. It was disgusting how these well known investment banks were recommending their clients to buy stocks during the dot com boom which they openly knew were rubbish, simply because they earned a commission from promoting them. What was worse, is the way these directors of these big firms recklessly and knowingly drove these firms to financial ruin all in the name of their personal greed. And they walked away with millions of dollars, while the hard working average taxpayer was left to pay for and fix the mess that they created. Not to mention the millions of hard working people who lost their homes and savings. Now whether it is the global financial crisis or global warming or the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, there seems to be one recurring theme throughout all of these problems. And that is corporate America seems to be running the country and doing whatever the hell they like. It is natural to blame these greedy corporations. I do not blame them entirely. It is easy to blame the government for making some terrible decisions. I do not blame them entirely. At the end of the day, the real power comes from the people, from you and I. When the mainstream population sits back apathetically and let these corporations and politicians do whatever they want, ultimately they must share some of the blame. If you are reading this post, I guess you are not to personally blame, because you are thinking about the problem and have taken an interest, which is always a good thing. Watching this documentary, you get an appreciation for what the Occupy Wall St movement is about. I should also mention that this documentary is narrated by Matt Damon, one of the high profile actors/activists who I have a lot of respect for.

I just spent well over an hour trying to add some statistics to this site. It was a rather simple task, it was just that every thing I tried seemed to not work. Anyhow, we now have site statistics, and I am hoping that might motivate me a little, to stop being so lazy and post more often.

1 contributors have published
20 posts that generated
32 comments

I also added a favicon image, so you should see a little peace sign in the address bar when you visit the site, I know it is an extremely small thing, but I noticed it was missing, so it is good to add it back on.

And most importantly, I added an about page at http://www.worldpeace.com/about That is long overdue and at least provides some guidance on what this site is about, although it is only a brief guide.

Last night I watched The Muppet Movie from 2011. It was a great movie, really brought back some memories from my youth.
I remember seeing the original Muppet Movie back in 1979 at the cinema when it was first released. I saw it as part of a school friends birthday party.
I had such a great time, I love the song “The Rainbow Connection” as much now, as I did back when I was a kid.
It strikes an emotion in me, that I cant quite describe in words, but it is a good feeling.
The Rainbow Connection Youtube
In particular these words make me emotional

Have you been half asleep
And have you heard voices
I’ve heard them calling my name
Are these the sweet sounds that called
The young sailors
I think they’re one and the same
I’ve heard it too many times to ignore it
There’s something that I’m supposed to be

Someday we’ll find it
The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

Now let me be clear, I do not literally hear voices, but I have always felt even from a young age, an inner calling, that I was meant to do something good for this world. Of course not me alone, but with other people. It is so easy to get trapped in the rat race, with day to day goings on, this song reminds me of my inner purpose, my inner calling of what “I’m supposed to be”
If anybody out there loves this song as much as me, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Well this site was down for a few days and I did not receive any notification from the web host, but all seems to be up and running now.
I was blown away by the number of comments on the blog when I logged in, it is always great to read peoples comments and expressing their views. It makes me very happy to see there are other people interested in World Peace.
There are two things that I would like to get up and running on this site soon.
The first is to define the mission of the site. Let me just say, it will not have any involvement with either religion or politics. It will not focus on all the negative aspects happening in the world, the war and the violence, there is enough of that on the nightly news. The site mission will focus on positive things like peace, love, nature and unity.
The second thing is to formulate a way to involve others and work together for world peace. But in order to go down this path, I think it is important to first formulate what this site stands for and its mission. If you would like to find out details on how you can participate in the future, please sign up for our newsletter. I am so thankful for the emails I have received with offers to help and participate.

Below is a video composed by Tom Van Dorn who emailed me. It is titled “If you Believe”

On a personal note, I am more committed to World Peace than ever, what spare time I have, I am using to write a book on the subject which has been a goal of mine for many years. Hopefully 2012 will be the year that sees me completing it. I should mention, that like this website, it is purely non profit.

I also look forward to receiving more emails, I try and respond to most of them.

The following video link was sent to me via email from Yaniv. It details his viewpoint on how to achieve World Peace. I should point out, that I do not agree entirely with this viewpoint, I am not really in favour of a world government, I am more in favour of improvements to the United Nations. I personally would rather see people pressure their current leaders to commit to not engaging in war that is not sanctioned by a majority vote of the United Nations. Had that happened, the war in Iraq that just ended, would have never started.

The video is definitely worth taking a look for those who have an interest in World Peace, it is well produced.

In response to my comments, Yaniv asked me to post the following

this video does not call for a world government in the simple meaning, it just suggest a world parliament created from the highest quality of people that will be a supervising only over international affairs, it won’t have the right to touch with any of nations internal laws, economy, etc, except if its in cases of protecting human rights from its own oppressed government or in some cases of global environment concern.

President Barack Obama was recently in Australia announcing the permanent deployment of some troops at the top end of Australia. (I am in Australia).

Listening to him answering questions, all I could think to myself was that he is one exceptionally intelligent president, a far cry from his predecessor. I really like Barack Obama, yes I know the people in America are hurting economy wise at the moment. And he may not be very popular. But I really like the man, especially when listening to him being questioned about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He mentioned that he would be pulling all of the troops out of Iraq by the end of the year. He mentioned how he was against the Iraq war all along.

More details can be found here. This is a war that has dragged on for 9 years. A war that has resulted in many deaths. A war which was based on lies. And a war which was not easy for a president to end, especially when there are infrastructure companies and oil companies who stand to profit from America staying there, and no doubt they would have been lobbying for America to stay there. So I think he deserves credit for that.

In addition, he said he was committed to withdrawing the American troops from Afghanistan. He said they could not withdraw straight away, but they would withdraw, acknowledging that they would be leaving a less than ideal situation.

I believe these two things will ease the deficit that America is running up, and could help the economy in the long run. It is also worthy to note that President Obama has not started any new wars so far during his presidency. If he loses, I think it will be due to unemployment levels in America. I do think his performance on the issue of World Peace has been good so far.
