Obama on Climate Change

I have liked President Obama right from the start. I think he is essentially a good person trying to do good positive things, unfortunately I cannot say the same for some of the american presidents of past who have just been out to serve their own self interest. To finally see an american president get serious on the topic of climate change, was both surprising and refreshing.
According to the NASA website

Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities,1and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.

Yet the fossil fuel lobby industry is a powerful one, they yield power in the form of political donations, and to date they have had a strong influence on policy making in Washington. Let’s hope that changes, and we start to see decisions which are in the best interests of the mainstream public and not special interest groups.

    Hi,
I dont mean to be a hater or mean or annoying
I just want to point out that Obama, David cameroon and majority of the EU nations are supporting and selling weaponry to israel, whilst selling the false idea to the world that it is a fair fight between gaza and israel.
Just take a look at the map of Gaza and you shall understand what this means.
To achieve world peace, we are still a long way away, but in order to get there, first we must accept what is wrong in order to fix it.

America may be supporting Israel and supplying weapons, but I don’t think it is fair to to hold them responsible. Israel is not some country which would not be doing what they are doing without weapons supplied from America, Israel has a very large weapons industry of their own, they both make their own weapons and export them all over the world, Israel have been reported to be the tenth largest exporter of weapons in the world.
I do however think that since Israel is occupying and building settlements in areas which go against what the United Nations has decided, that America should not be giving a single cent to Israel in military or any other sort of aid.
According to this page, 10% of the US senate are Jewish when the US Jewish population in America is only 1.7%, so I dont think funding cuts to Israel are going to happen any time soon. Israel is the largest recipient of US foreign AID, yet it is a reaonably wealthy country, there are factors at play here, this has been the case for the past three decades from what I have read, so I don’t think is going to change overnight.
Not defending Obama, but he has doubled the amount of aid to Palestine than was the case under Bush, and I have read reports that Obama and Kerry have tried to exert more pressure on Israel than any other past US president.

I also thought President Obama was doing much good until he decided to OK Shell Oil drill in the Arctic area of Alaska and favor the shale oil business. Still like him but think he fell off the right traxck.
